I am an artist and educator working in ceramics, installation, social engagement, and performance . Though I work conceptually, my training is as a utilitarian potter, informing the technical treatment and understanding of my primary material of clay.
I'm so fascinated by the relationships our human bodies have to the objects we are surrounded by. When I finally understood how to make pots, I knew so much of what a body needs in order to feed itself: with shape, size, weight, and texture. After years of teaching, I continue learning how to design a space so individuals can access the knowledge they want: with scale, depth, illumination, and layout.
Currently, I work as a Ceramics Instructor at the Manny Cantor Center in the Educational Alliance on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
